What's included in new car ceramic coating

About 60% of the cars we coat are new, and almost none of them are perfect when they arrive. Transport film, dealer pre-delivery washes and the first few weeks of driving all leave light marks. Our new car package covers:

• A careful hand wash and chemical decontamination to remove iron fallout, tar and transport residue
• A light machine correction to remove dealer wash marks and haze
• Panel prep so the coating bonds to clean clear coat
• A pro-grade, high-solids Blask coating, levelled panel by panel
• Aftercare instructions before we leave

New Car Protection pricing

For cars under 12 months old. Includes a one-step correction, the coating and an interior clean.

Older cars or paint that needs a two-step correction go into our Ultimate Protection package ($1,500 to $2,200 + GST).

New car paint quality is getting worse. Isaac sees thinner, softer factory paint every year as manufacturers cut costs, especially on newer Chinese cars and economy models. The window to protect a new car before it's marked keeps getting shorter.

Dealer protection vs a professional coating

Dealer paint protection is rarely applied over corrected paint, and it's often applied in a hurry. Peter from Eumundi bought a black Haval GT that the dealer had detailed and coated. Twelve months later the paint was in poor shape, and it took nine hours of correction and a proper coating to bring it back.

If you're buying new, ask the dealer exactly which product they use, who applies it, whether the paint is corrected first and what the warranty requires. Then compare.

Our process

1. Inspection under light to find transport and wash marks.
2. Wash and decontaminate the paint, glass and wheels.
3. Light correction with a single machine polishing step.
4. Panel prep to remove polishing oils so the coating bonds.
5. Coat and level panel by panel, checking for high spots.
6. Cure: dry for 24 hours, no washing for two weeks.

Pricing factors

Price depends on vehicle size, the age of the car and how much correction the paint needs. Cars under 12 months old usually fit New Car Protection; older cars or heavier marks need our Ultimate Protection package ($1,500 + GST sedan, $1,800 + GST SUV, $2,200 + GST 4WD). You'll get a fixed quote before any work starts.

New cars on the Sunshine Coast

A new car here gets UV most of the year, salt air near the beach, sap and flying-fox droppings in leafy streets, and tank or bore water spots if you wash at home off mains water. Fast-growing estates like Aura also mean construction dust on new cars parked in new driveways. A coating doesn't stop any of that, but it makes it far easier to wash off before it etches.
